What are the most common causes of erectile dysfunction?

Distress the erectile functions can occur for very many reasons, and very often these evolved violations constitute only a symptom of another disease. In general, as a rule, the reasons influencing the development of erectile dysfunction can be divided into five groups:
Psychological disease:
Depression
Drug habituation
Alcoholism
-Specific psychopathological disease – fear of sexual impotence, impoverished sexual techniques, etc.
Endocrine disease:
-Hypogenitalism
-Diabetes
-Fatty degeneration
-Prolaktinoma (brain tumor)
-Sarcoidosis with involvement of the hypothalamic zone.
Disease of the vascular system:
arterial sclerotic disease of the arterial system of the penis on a background of diabetes, smoking, high blood cholesterol, idiopathic hypertensia
- Arterial occlusive of small pelvis (blockage), (usually occur after fracture of the pelvis)
-Disease of the venous system, the increased flow of blood from the penis
-The combination of different types of vascular lesions of the penis.
Organic changes of the penis:
, Peyronie’s disease (curvature of the penis)
- lesions, injuries, inflammation, etc.
V. Neurological disorders:
The upset of cerebrovascular disease (stroke)
-Diseases of the spinal medulla
- multiocular sclerosis –
Parkinson’s disease.
However, we must bear in mind that perhaps a combination of these reasons, in varying degrees, to determine when a leading cause of erection disorders can be difficult. This usually occurs when the general aging of the organism.
Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, smoking and cardiovascular disease account for about 80% of all causes erection dysfunction. Diabetes affects the nerves of the penis, disrupting their normal functioning and damage the smooth muscle, which is the erectile tissue. Hypertension (high blood pressure), and therapy aimed at lowering blood pressure, can also impair blood flow to the penis. Smoking – is the main cause of the so-called “penile Angiospasm” when there are disturbances at the level of capillary circulation of the penis. For this reason, smoking, or rather – “smoking”, many experts attribute to a separate group of causes of erectile dysfunction. Penile angiospasm also develops and diabetes.
So – in 60% of cases the cause of impotence is the fact that no blood enters the penis or there is a rapid outflow of its back. Another 15% of cases the reason should be sought in the underlying disorders of the nervous system. 5% of cases develop on the background of various endocrine (hormonal) diseases. And only 20% are caused by psychological reasons.
